I've tried everything to get my Axim X50v (with the 2003 SE OS) to work with the Windows Mobile Device Center on my new Vista Desktop PC for syncing Outlook 2003 data. When I insert my Axim in the connected cradle, the Desktop system says it can't find the necessary drivers. I then select the "search online" option, but it comes up with driver not found see manufacturer of the device.e

Of course, Dell doesn't have anything new for the X50v to work with Vista. I've also tried uninstalling WMDC and reinstalling the WMDC version 6 available on the Microsoft download site, but that has the same problem.

Has anybody run into this problem, and if so, what was the solution?

Thanks,

More often than not, driver installation errors and sync failures are due to poorly configured firewalls and network settings. Have a look through this guide (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter/troubleshooting.mspx) and also this guide (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter/onecare.mspx) if you're running OneCare.

I thought WMDC required WM5?

I thought WMDC required WM5?

It's compatible with WM2003 and up. A list of supported operating systems can be found here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx).
