ActiveSync syncs only some notes, contacts (in default folders)

All of my notes and contacts are stored in the default folders in MS Outlook, however only about half of each my notes and contacts get transfered or synchronized with the PPC.

The only pattern that I have been able to detect so far is that any contact or note that I update and save will be synchronized, but any notes or contacts that I have not saved recently are not.

I have tried deleting and re-creating the partnership, and this doesn't help.

No error messages are displayed during the synchronization, and AS claims that all items are synchonized when complete.

The PPC is running Windows Mobile 2003 SE, and the PC is running ActiveSync 4.5 (4.2 had the same problem).

Can anyone suggest how to fix this? And how to prevent the problem (whatever it is) from recurring?

I have now also tried deleting the partnership, hard resetting the PPC, and syncing. Same problem.

It looks like there is something on the PC side retaining old/incorrect information. Any ideas what? and how to fix?

Welcome to PPCT!

About the only real advice I can give is...go back to AS3.8. Unfortunately, AS 4.x has reduced functionality and some quirks. In any case with a WM2003 device, you're better served with AS3.x as AS4.x is only necessary for WM5 devices.

Interesting suggestion - thanks. I'll have to check and see if 3.x is still available from the MS web site ... If not, any suggestions where I can find the older version(s)?

(I'm also open to, and would very much appreciate, suggestions for better, inexpensive replacements, but don't mean to restart that whole discussion here :-)

It's no longer available from MS (though the website is still there) - but HPC Factor (http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/syncsoft/activesync/) are hosting an archive of AS versions. If you still can't get it, drop me a PM with your email and I'll send it along.

Well, version 3.8 has the exact same problem, and the same set of contact and notes are transferred, and the same set are NOT transferred.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or ideas where I might be able to find help fixing this problem?
