One thing I miss from my Nokia days is the ability to tell the phone to get the time from the cell network. It appears that WM5 does't have this option -- it will sync time from the host computer only when it connected via activesync.

Or am I wrong? Anyone come across a utility that will allow syncing time via the carrier?

... After some research, it appears that many WM5 phones do have this ability -- just not mine!

Oh well -- if anyone comes across a utility that will do this let me know.

you can try SPTimeSync, a freeware for WM that connects to ntp server.

I would say that most WM PocketPC style devices don't set time over the network, while most of the Smartphones do, or can.

You will note that PPCPE devices have a time control panel with Home and Visiting, and SPs only have the one setting.

Personally I prefer managing that myself, as there is no good indication of when, or if the time/TZ has changed. It is not a given that whenever you get into a new area, that the cell system transmits TZ info.

Not sure an NTP server update will help you here. It will accurately set your time, but it will have no idea what TZ you are in.
