It is high time to break away from all the high-tech around and watch the night sky! With new VITO AstroNavigator II you can literally reach out and touch the sky. Just slide with a finger to rotate the screen and see a star, a planet, or a constellation. Tap one of them to read a wealth of information about any celestial body."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.vitotechnology.com/upload/iblock/016fce75fde2fc3ac50e5e43149116ae.gif" /><br /><br />As I looked at VITO's latest release, I couldn't help but think about the book I just read, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Carry-Mr-Bowditch-Jean-Latham/dp/0618250743/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-0714260-5258330?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177385658&sr=8-1">Carry On, Mr. Bowditch</a> (<i>affiliate link</i>), which tells the true story of a somewhat obscure figure in maritime history, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathaniel_Bowditch">Nathaniel Bowditch</a> who was a math wiz and figured out a way to calculate a <a href="http://www.portcities.org.uk/london/server/show/ConNarrative.132/chapterId/2693/Greenwich-and-the-story-of-time.html">position at sea</a> at night by considering the position of the moon in relation to 3 stars, rather than waiting for the moon to <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/andjames/PageMoon002.htm">occult a star</a>. Honestly, much of it was above my head, but I just imagine what Bowditch and others would have done to have the tools we have today. Me? I'd still get lost, but at least I'd be able to figure out a constellation or two and enjoy the ride!

...and use your portable high-tech gps enabled electronic star mapping system. hmmm... maybe they shouldn't have bothered saying anything about breaking away from tech.

 It might be kind of hard to see the night sky if you're looking at a bright PDA. It's kind of like those who want to go to a cabin to get away from it all and then double-check to ensure it's equipped with satellite TV, phone, etc.

We've just updated VITO AstroNavigator II to version 1.1. The main thing is Night View skin.

- night view Skin - dim red colors don't dazzle you and you clearly see the stars above you.
- world map is adjusted to show the stars above you more precisely according to the selected location.
- GPS can be set up manually if necessary.
- requires much less memory to run.
- minimize option, no need to exit to check on other applications.
