Does anyone have suggestions for neat software that uses the PPC's camera? PPC-6700 in my case.

I keep reading about all of the neat ideas like built in OCR, reading bar codes for price comparison, etc. but none of it seems to be beyond the concept/alpha stages. I'm just curious what's available to play with now.

I'm interested in anything that is new and beyond just "taking pictures."

Thanks!

Try Ateksoft (http://www.ateksoft.com/), they have a few interesting applications.

I ran across an ad for this (http://www.qipit.com/SMC001MP001/?source=SM0109) over at Howard Forums.

If you give it a try, report back and let us know how it works.

Oohhh, that does look neat. Just signed up and now waiting for my registration email. Will report back after I have a chance to play with it.

No luck with qipit. I've been trying for a couple of days now but it won't let me register. Will update again if I am successful.

After looking at this, I am surprised that nobody (that I could find) has made an OCR app for Pocket PC. It seems like we now have the processing power for a decent OCR system onboard.

This (http://www.penpower.net/enversion/product/wc_mobile.html) is a lot more limited than the Qipit app, but might be worth checking out.

Couldn't get it to start. After doing some searches, it apparently does not work with the ppc-6700. :( Too bad as it looks like a neat app.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess we're just destined to only take pictures with our cameras. ;)

I tested the "WorldCard Mobile", Business Card Recognition System from Penpower yesterday and it worked quite nicely on my Orange SPV M3100. One had to correct some details that were not properly recognized, but I assume that also depends on how you handle the camera and with some practice one might get better results. In the end the whole process is probably not much faster then just typing, but at least it works.
