I have had good luck with the DeLorme hardware and software on both my PPC and my laptop. DeLorme SW is mainly relegated to the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

As a practical matter, I prefer a separate GPS receiver, separate from and not used with a PPC. DeLorme has just announced a new color screen GPS handheld receiver which comes bundled with 6 different SW packages, such as strets and hiways, topographic, etc. Find their site by searching on DeLorme.com. Garmin makes good GPS hardware and software too. Tom-Tom makes good stuff also. Magellan, IMHO, sucks.
