Purportedly envisioned by Teague, the sure-to-be-renamed "Data Center Communications Vision of the Future Server" for HP looks to be a Pocket PC / rugged handheld hybrid with a slideout QWERTY keyboard, oversized touchscreen display, and quite a chunky motif. Of course, we doubt this will turn out to be your average PDA / phone, as it reportedly boasts "integrated hardware / software mobile technology to allow IT personnel to monitor data center equipment, diagnose and track problems, and perform system services" as well."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20070321-hprdccon.jpg" /><br /><br />We see this form factor time and time again, but it has yet to make a significant impact in the industrial setting. If indeed HP's concept materializes, how far do you think it'll go?

It seemed pretty cool when this form factor (slide out qwerty key board) first came out, but now its just boring. I'd have to say it seems to me like 90% of all WM5 devices that came out which had a key board, had this form factor and for HP to go the "innnovative" angle and expect to wow us with yet another device who's key board is "magically" exposed when you pull it out ("bet you thought it was a regular phone.. nope .. boom?... look at that.. key board" I say sarcasticly "wow I could not tell by the clunkieness of the device that a mini qwerty keyboard was hidden in there"). By the way, no beef with HP, I love their products.
Well I guess like always, we'll let HTC set the standard for Windows mobile based devices. O2 give it a break and go back to HTC, you need them, we need them. I'm ordering the I-Mate Ultimate I forgot the name/number, the one that reminds us of the HTC Universal, the second it comes out.

That'd be the i-mate Ultimate 7150. :)
