View Full Version : What's the best way to resolve a file that won't sync?

I installed new version of ActiveSync (yeah, I know). When I went to sync it, I get an error that a file (in the Files sync folder) can not be resolved. I would just delete the sucker if I could find which one it is out of the zillion icons and other junk that's in there.

Question: What's the best way to find out what file is causing this?

Thanks!

Thanks!Select files>uncheck all, Check them back in 5 or so at a time...until you can trace which one.

This is what I was trying to avoid. I have a lot of files. Is there anyone else with a silver bullet?

The only (slightly) faster way I can think of would be to MOVE the files in small groups to a holding folder to see when the synching is restored. It's not much better, but I think it's faster than checking/unchecking stuff.

Yeah, this is the method I've used before. Wouldn't that be a great error message, "sorry, but the file xxxxx cannot be synced. Please resolve"?

That would make too much sense.

I can't believe that it'd be that difficult to provide just a bit more specific information like that, even if it were dumped into a sync log.

would just deleting the entire folder from both sides (of course, after first copying it into a temp location), then copying it back - then re-synching?

thats what i usually do when i have problems in ActiveSync's unresolved errors - both in files as well as Outlook items... moreso being with other softwares that need synching (SplashID, for example).
