Anyone having read my well-known (for example, PPCT-frontpaged (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=423325)) article (link below) on how WM5 AKU3+ (and, therefore, Windows Mobile 6 (Crossbow)) handles dial-up connections via Bluetooth knows that, so far, it has been impossible with Mac OS X to use Windows Mobile devices with the latest operating system version(s) as modems via Bluetooth.

Now that Apple has released a new, 10.4.9 version of Mac OS X, this problem is gone. Please see THIS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1172264&postcount=7) for more info.

I've been trying to determine if I'll be able to use the 700wx with my Macbook Pro as a modem and my wireless provider can't seem to tell me for sure.

Is there a way to tell whether AKU3 is installed on a device? Is there a particular version number of the OS or does it actually say AKU3?

Thanks,
John

I think the 700wx is AKU2 only. To find this out, go to Settings/System/About and have a look at the last three numbers of the OS 5.1.xxx (Build xxxxx.x.x.x) version number. That'll tell you the AKU version. For example, 2.3.1 refers to AKU 2.3.

Thanks - that's exactly what I needed to know.
