I know that there are probably other options out there but I really want to sync music onto my Audiovox 6700. When I plug the pocket pc in via USB, Windows Media Player recognizes the device but does not recognize the 1G mini-SD card that I need to use. My device definitely has no room for music.
Are there steps that I can take to resolve this? I have already tried to take the card out, place in the card reader and sync like that but it wont recognize it on Windows Media Player.

You should be able to get Media Player to view your storage card as another "device." While your Pocket PC is connected, open Media Player and under the Synch button, select Refresh Devices.
Then, with the playlist view showing on the right-hand side of the screen, if your device's internal memory is what's listed at the top, hit the little arrow and it should scroll to other "devices," like your storage card.
If that doesn't work, let us know.

Thank you for the quick response. I followed your directions perfectly and tried twice but no luck. Any thoughts?

Exactly what is/isn't happening? Does Media Player even "see" the storage card, or is it not even getting that far?

Windows Media will not recognize my storage card. I have to go to the library menu and have WM5 look for music. It finds it and associates the music files. Everything will be fine for a while, then I 'll have to run through that procedure again. I Googled the problem and read that many delete the Metadata file which seemed to work, but then the Metadata file appeared again.
Along the same lines, I dnld'd two e-books and were enjoying them - then poof - they were not recognized either, although they're still listed in File Explorer.
Maybe WM6 will correct these major flaws in user enjoyment of the Pocket PC. Right now, it's a PITA (Pain In The A..).
I use the Cingular 8525. $450 for a cell phone! It should work like a charm.

Microsoft recently released a hotfix that will resolve this problem. It can be found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931621/
Once you install that update, storage cards should be recognized in WMP11 with Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. I installed this yesterday, works like a charm with my iPaq hx2495, with a 2 GB CompactFlash card :)
