Hi:
Resolving Conflicts Options
Although i've seen something similar in another post, i haven't found anything that addresses my question exactly.
I have a Cingular 8525 and ActiveSync 4.5 running with Windows XP SP2 (fully updated and patched) and Outlook 2007. In earlier versions of ActiveSync, i was given the option of choosing whether conflicts would have the desktop overwrite the Pocket PC, whether the Pocket PC would overwrite the desktop; or leave it unresolved so i could manually select.
It appears that this option is no longer available in AS 4.5. So, does that mean every time there is a conflict it will be resolved in favor of the desktop? If so, wouldn't that mean that if i change any appointments or tasks on my 8525, that the changes won't make it to my desktop? Making any change on the 8525 by its very nature creates a conflict b/t the 8525 and the desktop, right? That seems too silly to be the way it works. If it does work that way, it would remove a huge chunk of the Pocket PC's functionality. Surely even microsoft wouldn't be that moronic!
Hoping that the above isn't true, is the way it works that if i change something on my pocket pc, then change the same thing to something else on my desktop, the next time i sync it will resolve in favor of the change i made on my desktop? I hope not b/c i don't always remember what i've changed, since i don't always have the chance to sync. I must admit i find it difficult to understand why this option would be unavailable in AS 4.5.
Does anyone know of any workarounds for this?
Adjusting Memory Allocation
It appears that there is no way to reallocate the RAM on the pocket pc to allow for more performance and less storage. Is that correct? since it probably is correct, are there anyways around this? I want to store most of my programs on my storage card. If i can't allocate more to performance, then it looks like about 25% or so of my RAM ends up being unused and useless. I mean, by refusing to increase RAM even in the newer pocket pcs, they are already forcing us to buy storage cards. So, there doesn't seem to be a reason to remove this option.
Assuming I can't allocate my memory (the phone's, not mine), has anyone figured out a way to work around this issue?
Thanks to those of you who have taken the time to read this far. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas you can offer.
