Unlike other DVD to WMV ripper, Spb Mobile DVD keeps all the richness and versatility you expect from today's DVD format. Spb has accomplished this in two parts: First, the DVD converter, which runs on the home PC, converts any standard DVD into Spb's new and revolutionary Mobile DVD format. This new and innovative format combines an amazing retention of quality and a full feature set, with a careful economy of space, allowing a full length DVD including all standard DVD functionalities to fit on a standard memory card."</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/westfall-spb_mobile_dvd_2_3gsm_preview1.jpg><br /><br />The big news with the 2.0 release is the included player software, which allows you to have a full DVD experience (i.e. menus, language selection, etc..) on your Pocket PC. Sounds pretty neat Spb! Not yet available, but it should be out in the first quarter!

So let me get this straight.

For years now I have wanted to rip the *entire* DVD onto my PocketPC... that means the movie, the menus, the extras, the ability to zip between chapters etc.

So it **sounds** like SPB have done this with Mobile DVD 2.

So why is no one else excited by this?

Also, why is it not on their web site yet? Still in beta?

It's only just been announced, but I'm really looking forward to this. I've been using Spb Mobile DVD since I got sent a preview copy, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

When this is real, I'll definitely be $25 excited about it. But announcements about products companies intend to produce at some indefinite time in the future (Q1 is almost over, by the way) are just annoying.

SPB's makes great-looking, practically useful software, so I'm sure this will be a solid addition to their line. But am I alone in not liking "tease" announcements?

I have also been a 1.0 user since the test preview came out, and I'm verry much looking forward to the 2.0 release 8)

It sounds like every "video on PPC" fans dream come through :D
