The 5150 was revealed earlier today and now the covers have been lifted off the other four. Of course, you already know that each of these babies sports an Intel Bulverde 520MHz processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, 802.11b/g/e/i Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 262K-colour VGA display, Mini-USB (v2.0 specification), a video-out port supporting 1024 x 768, a 2.0-megapixel camera, an FM radio, a microSD slot, and Windows Mobile 6; the only thing separating them is design. Which of the five appeal to you? For what it's worth, we're digging the 7150 and 9150.

I can see myself with the 7150. "Unless Sony or someone makes a Vista Based UMPC about the same size ;) " Gonna depend a bit on how proud they are of this thing...read $$$$

I'm really liking the 9150... Could be just what I'm looking for :D

I like the 7150, and 8150 but i'd like to know more on the hinge on the 7150; like if it can hide the keyboard when open or swivel and such like the swivel on the universal always appealed to me. 5150, also interests me but I'm not sure my thoughts on it with that much open space. Wonder what the difference in size between the 5150 and the 6150. I kinda like someone going back to the old style of pda's.

I'm with Sven, the 7150 appears pretty attractive, especially with a decent price point (read: cheaper than Athena).

I like the design and the color, and the specs are good - the only thing I miss is gps (could be a deal-breaker for me...)

The question here is how big are these devices, for instance what is the size of the 8150, especially the screen?
And why there is only one with querty keyboard?

Anyone any idea who is the manufacturer of the I-Mate ultimate series.

Secondly the one with laptop like look does it have an external display for looking at the caller ID without the need to open the cover.

Thanks and Regards

I'll be making a separate post on this later today, so stay tuned. :)

Am I the only one that thinks every single one of those devices are HIDEOUS looking ? Sure they have nice specs, but those things are just ugly!

I wouldn't go as far as to say ugly, but certainly there are many other devices that are moe eye-catching. The specs ere great, so if the looks can be tarted up there will be a winner for everyone.

Looks like the 7150 is a clamshell device, like a laptop or the old Psion 7(?) series.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And the intended beholder here are tech nerds (like us) most of whom are, frankly, intimidated by teh sexy.

C'mon, admit it, most of you don't want an iPod or iPhone cause its style is so attractive that it captures the eyes of those who never think twice about internal specs. We want the mousy, bespectacled chick over in the chem lab who probably has a smokin' bod under that lab smock but no one has really taken the time to think about because they're spending all their time looking at Susan who wears tight sweaters, short skirts and drives her dad's Porche.

I'm not even going to touch your second paragraph, which is a minefield. ;) But I will say this: I disagree with this assertion. I, as well as many other folks here, own an iPod, and have cast a glance or two at an iPhone. Now, the device doesn't have to be sexy. But if it's large and cumbersome, forget it. To me, part of the attraction of the iPhone is its user interface and ease-of-use, and size and ergonomics plays a factor.

They are not design by Prada that's for sure, but with all the latest "nicer looking" devices, but locking performance, I would say they are beautiful!

The screeen alone is enough to make me lust after the 7150. 3.8 inches of VGA goodness. I'm willing to bet it will be $1000 or over though. :( We'll just have to see what happens in June.
