Need help synching contacts, PLEASE!

I finally figured out how to synch my contacts but now i've been doing major clean up in outlook on my desktop. Will the items i've deleted off the desktop now get deleted off the ppc when I do a synch?

Also, how can I be absolutely sure I have it set correctly so as not to duplicate? I have thousands of contacts.

Activesync is usually pretty decent at catching duplicates - I've never had a case with contacts (tasks and appointments are another matter). In any case, you could use a Outlook duplicate cleaner.
