I have a Dell Axim X50 running Windows Mobile 2003. I have ActiveSync 3.7.1 to sync my address book, etc with my desktop computer. After having a cable modem installed as part of getting cable internet access, ActiveSync no longer recognizes my PocketPC when it is plugged into the cradle. ActiveSync searches for a device but will not recognize the device. Could this be caused by the installation of the cable modem and does anyone have suggestions for fixing the problem? Thanks.
First and easiest possiblity, delete and reinstall ActiveSync?

I've tried reinstalling and there was no change in the behavior.

Is the cradle plugged directly into the computer's USB sockets, or are you going through a USB hub? If you disconnect the cable modem, does the device get recognized again? Are there any "unknown" devices in the Device Manager (in the system properties on Windows XP/2000) when you cradle your device?

Hey i had the same problem,
After i reformatted my PPC my computer wouldnt recognise it
Try doing this
Go to Add/Remove Software
Remove Active Sync And then go to add/Remove Hardware
Remove your PPC
Then install Active Sync
Restart your computer And plug in your Ppc
If it doesnt detect it try upgrade to a newer active sync?
4.2?
