I was doing a soft reset on my ipaq 4155 (again) today and the button got pushed further into the pda. Eventually the whole button fell out.... does anyone know if I could solder this back in?

I suppose that depends on how talented you are in device disassembly, micro soldering and reassembly. I'm not sure there is actualy a button there. I think it is probably a microswitch directly on the circuit board you are poking with the stylus.

You could opt for a software based reset. Lots of those around. SPB Pocket Plus and SBSH I-Launcher include it. It of course doesn't help if the device is locked up.

There is always PocketPCTechs, if you question your ability to do the deed.

This is something I wouldn't try unless you are really good at soldering in really tiny places. Email the guys at PPC Techs, they can let you know approximately how much the repair would be. A software solution like Sven suggested would also work fine (There are freeware utilities that will do a soft-reset). If you device locked up, you could always just pop the battery out for a few seconds and then pop it back in to do a soft-reset.

now it quit working altogether....is there a button there when that switch is gone? does anyone have a picture of the pocket pc's circuit board?

Ok...this is getting weird...out of nowhere it started working again....i had the battery in and out of it quite a few times over several hours, then out of the blue it starting working again. Then tonight out of nowhere again, when i tried starting it, it would start up up...show the progress bar it shows when starting up and then the backlight would shut off...i would try it again several more times, and then it wouldn't come back on anymore...just like before....any suggestions?
