Though much of the engineering is over my head, the possibility to charge mobile devices without having to plug it in is huge! After you've read the press announcement above, check out the cool video at YouTube. One odd note of personal concern; the company developing this technology is Alticor, which is the parent company of Amway, Quixtar, and other Multilevel Marketing efforts. I hope you don't have to sit through a demonstration or examination of your life goals before you get to purchase one.

Your mentioning of the company being a MLM one, makes me wonder just how close to waporware this is? :?

It's sertantly not the first time I read about wireless power, actually it's the third time within the last 6 months, but untill I see a working device IRL, I wont hold my breath.

We have been promissed wireless power since the days of Nicola Tessla, but so far we've "only" got wireless communication devices, from hes inventions 8O

...untill I see a working device IRL, I wont hold my breath.

If the Youtube video is a true demo, it looks cool. But, like you said, we'll have to see "the proof".

I own one of the eSpring water filters (see it at http://phelpsenterprises.wwdb.biz/Choices/Products.aspx?P=75) featured in the video, and it's a great product. I can't believe how much it improves the taste of my water. If Alticor is true to their track record in innovation and distribution of new products, this technology could be something that'll make a huge impact.

Looks like the are looking for business partners to develop applications. Can't wait to see what develops.

Uh-oh... I heard the word "proprietary" in relationship to their product in that YouTube. :worried: So we may very well end up with competing wireless charging standards. :bad-words:
