Cingular Releasing Treo 750 on January 7th/8th

I am. I have never used a Palm before so I am looking forward to trying it out. Regarding the HSDPA update, how fast with the on-line speeds be without the update? A friend has the 8525 and the on-line speed is nice. Will it take the update for the 750 to obtain comparable speeds?

Gator - UMTS runs at a max of 384kbps which is plenty fast for a lot of different uses. You also have to realize that even if you had unlimited bandwidth, it still takes time for the processors to interpret the data so what you see when you're surfing the web is a product of the download speed as well as the processor speed. Shouldn't be too noticeable. Apps like ORB and Slingbox look great at 200kbps which should be low enough for UMTS to use.

TMann - no word yet on an unlocked version from Palm, but we might hear about it on Sunday @ CES.

I was just making a joke about the "1H06". That usually means "1st half of the year 2006". We've already used up all of 2006 and have progressed in to the year 2007.
