Apparently not only do Pocket PC Enthusiasts think so, but also do crackers. 2 days after release, a crack was distributed that Mircea at Monocube was able to have removed from a website. It's a strange sign of popularity to be cracked (especially that quickly), however I think we can all agree that $6.95 isn't especially high of a price to pay for software such as this!

:| Yeah, he created a great app which was freeware for a long time. Now he improves it and charges a modest fee and gets hit. Shame on anyone who uses the cracked version!

Thanks for your support, guys.

The reason it got cracked so quickly is because I didn't invest a lot of time in the shareware protection part - I was aware it will be cracked at some point, no matter how much time I'd invest in protecting it (it happens to all applications).

Anyway, I don't plan to get rich out of selling SafeMode - as I said when I first developed it, it should've been a standard feature in Windows Mobile. I couldn't keep it free because WM 5 applications need to be digitally signed with a certificate - and each signing event costs. I hope you understand.

By the way, I have a Smartphone application under development - and I need some beta testers with some spare time - anyone interested? :)

Just a note for everyone. Version 2.1 has been released, below is what we received - it looks like a solid update:

"This new version is a FREE update for all registered users. The most important things in this new release are:
-support for more devices (AKU 3.x Windows Mobile versions)
- better "services" handling: this prevents services from starting until you get a chance to enter SafeMode
- visual confirmation when starting in SafeMode
- packed files for smaller size - yes, I know, they were already small, but now they are about half the size :) You can get the new version at http://www.monocube.com. You should uninstall the previous version before installing SafeMode 2.1"

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but perhaps it may interest someone ;)

I just finished SafeMode 3 (WM 5/6.x). It's available at my website at www.monocube.com.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Mircea
