After owning three difference PDAs over the last ten years I finally broke a screen on my HP 4155. After getting it replaced a new problem came up, my PDA screen shuts itself down frequently. The only solution to this problem is a soft-reset. There seems to be no pattern to this problem, I have tried shaking it thinking that something was loose, could not cause the problem. Sometimes it can go for two days without doing this, sometimes it seems to be every 10 minutes.

I took the device back to the shop where the screen was replaced and they looked at it again and said that all connections were fine.

I really like this PDA, the size is perfect and it does what I want. Does anyone have any suggestions or idea to the problem?

I have not ruled out buying a new device, and would also like to hear recommendations. Would like to have more or less the same physical size and features in the new device.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Well this morning a simple battery swap caused the unit to perform a hard reset (thank goodness for Sprite Backup). No doubt in my mind that this thing is kaput.

Sent off an order today for a Dell Axim X51v. I like the memory handling and the screen resolution. Concerned about the battery life, but will see what I need in regards to spare battery after a week or two of use.
