I just switched from a Cingular 2125 WM5 Smartphone to an HP hw6945 PPC . The difference for making phone calls is a nightmare. With the smartphone you click on the number pad and you get to the dialer with a history of calls and when you type in a number it shows you when you called it. With the PPC you have to switch to the phone app, open up the keypad, dial in the number or select the Call History.

Did MS forget that the PPC Phone Edition is supposed to be a phone?

Is there any hack or addon to make the PPC act like the Smartphone dialer/phone ?

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site! First things first, please only post your question once rather than twice in two different forums. ;-) I've deleted your other post.

To answer your question, it's the main difference between the Smartphone and the Pocket PC Phone Editions: the Smartphone really works like a phone, the Pocket PC Phone Edition is a PDA first and a phone second. But to be fair, some OEMs have figured this out: the Palm Treo can dial from the home screen just like a Smartphone can. The HP unit you purchased is a bit...lacking in that regard (sadly).
