I’ve received the commercial version of Inscenic’s new Stratego clone, NapoleoniX (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1524&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1) in the meantime and could, consequently, test the multiplayer mode. It’s true TCP/IP multiplayer (and, therefore, works over both BT PAN / Wi-Fi P2P LAN's and the Internet) working great. Please see the original review for more info. Also, make sure you check back to the ClickGamer download site (http://www.clickgamer.com/moreinfo.htm?pid=7099) for the latest version if you have a copy that has been downloaded before 12/22/2006 23:50 CET (that is, last Midnight) – in the meantime, a bugfix version has been released.
Venan’s new Pirates! / Tradewinds clone High Seas: Guns & Gold (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1521&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1) has turned out to support QVGA-only WM5 devices (http://www.venan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=71) (but NOT VGA ones! As far as VGA devices are concerned, it’s only WM2003SE ones that are supported, not WM5 ones!). Unfortunately, it seems the battle screen isn’t really square screen compliant (see royceguy‘s remarks in the above-linked thread (http://www.venan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=71)). This means if you have a QVGA WM5 device, you may also want to give it a try. Note that well-known Pocket PC tech writer Ben Stanley (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=27) has also posted some remarks (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&title=review_high_seas_a_new_pirates_tradewind&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1) on the game.
Finally, as far as Knight Tales - Land Of Bitterness (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1522&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1), the new, great but VERY short Zelda clone is concerned, AximSite forum member solara has also mentioned (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showpost.php?p=1260608&postcount=2) it’s way too short and easy. That is, I was right about calling the game too short.
