http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp0HyxQv97Q&eurl=

This is a hysterical, but painful, recording of a guy that went to Canada with his Verizon wireless phone and was quoted .002 cents per KB while roaming, but when the bill came, he was charged .002 dollars per KB. When he called to get it corrected, he ultimately learns Verizon considers the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars a matter of opinion. :rotfl: You might want to get your calculator out for this one so you can follow along. And maybe some graph paper, a compass and a ruler. :lol:

"you recognize the difference between point zero zero two dollars and point zero zero two cents?"
"no."

In my experience, Verizon is the biggest rip off artist in communication industry, Little by little I went from using Verizon for all my communication needs (cell, land line, internet) to nothing. Only Voicewing (Verizon version of VOIP) remains, but not for long. :evil:

I bet if enough people paid them 50 cents instead of 50 dollars, they'd be able to tell the difference...

..it's just a matter of opinion.

$ .00002 = .002 cents

35893 KB x $ .00002 = $0.71786

That's Verizon for ya... :roll:

Verizon should stop hiring graduates of Philosophy and start hiring graduates with some background in Maths or Sciences.

They probably haven't even heard of Accountants, and do their own books.

Just a matter of opinion...

Philosophy doesn't let you ignore reality. This is just cluelessness, and probably a symptom of our school systems.

"I'm not a mathematician. hahahaha"

And yet she was still mathematically correct to tell him he had no idea what he was talking about?

This is just another one of those times that I am glad that I live in Australia far away from Verizon, and here is hoping that they never get it in their heads to come over here.

This is as sad as it is hilarious. I have to hope that "Supervisor" and "Manager" are given a math lesson now that this is publicly out. I think the customer did and amazing job of keeping his cool when dealing with support staff that was stubbornly refusing to realize their mistake.

But really, if they were just being cheap, whose pocket would the $73 (or whatever, I listened to the recording last night and don't recall the exact amount) have come out of? How many staff does Verizon employ? Divide $73 by that number, and that's not a tremendous loss for any one staff member to take from a single paycheck.

Well, I guess the online pressure helped. Today, he got his refund. http://verizonmath.blogspot.com/2006/12/response-from-verizon-100-refund.html
