Or would you rather have a great phone that just happens to also function as a good PDA? ...Trade offs, gotta luv em...For that very reason, this review is going to be approached by two different perspectives. I'm the type of person that wants a great phone first, and a great PDA second. Since Rob is the opposite, I thought he'd be the perfect person to help me out with this review."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Gadgeteer_HTC_TyTN.jpg" /><br /><br />Julie Strietelmeier of The Gadgeteer has been well-known for her two-person reviews with Judie Hughes. Now that Judie has begun her own site, Julie is carrying on the tradition in this review with Rob Tillotson. I've always enjoyed the back and forth opinions of these thorough reviews, especially when they come to two different conclusions. So, if you were writing the review, does the TyTN function best as a PDA or a phone, or have you finally found a great compromise?

I don't know if I got defective device but so far my experience is awful. Here is the story. I bought my 8525 approximately two weeks ago from cingular. First week was awesome, I truly enjoyed the taste of the 3G, slide open keyboard and all other features. Then, I started to experience small problems, such as I couldn't connect to internet until I restart my device, sometimes it just turns on itself and starts wasting juice. Yesterday morning the worst thing happened. Usually I set my alarm clock on my device, but that morning it didn't work(i still managed to get up). I was little but concerned about it but didn't pay that much attention. When I wanted to check my emails, 8525 was lagging, acting exteremely slow, like I had to wait 15 sec for start window to open. So, i did soft restart but nothing changed. Now, it is unsuable, so probably I'm gonna visit cingular store this friday or saturday. By the way, I'm using my good old rw6828. That thing is like a tank, never gets broken and can take some serious beating.

Ouch! Sorry to hear it's not been a good experience for you. I hope it's just a defective device. Did it start after installing any software? Just wondering if that was causing conflicts.
