There are around 30 fixes and 4 enhancements listed. The download itself comes in at a hefty 35MB. As is the case with any ROM update, be sure to back up all of your important data beforehand and of course, we'd love to hear your assessment afterwards!

I lost any interest to HP messangers since Infamous T-Mobile Ipaq 6315. I haven't see anything from them that would be inovative and intersting.

what's that got to do with a service announcement about a ROM upgrade...! For those of us with an rw68xx this is a useful announcement.

BTW, my iPAQ works very well as a business tool. Well worth the money for a small, well built phone/pda.

cheers

I owned one of these [rw6828 variant] for 6 weeks and during that time it performed really well, the only problem I had was that it didn't have UMTS and a keyboard. But it was compact and looked and performed better than my friends' O2 ATOM [although they are from the same manufacturer]. This past few days, around 4 people that I don't know have dropped me instant messages or emails asking about this device. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't need a keyboard or UMTS.

Have just updated my ROM... :D Although had a heart stopping moment during the ROM upgrade.... Had Windows pop up an error at 80% complete stating the ROM upgrade process had an error and it was shutting down 8O
I couldn't reset the iPaq out of the bootloader screen, however retried the ROM upgrade and all seems to be working ok.

Just don't like the fact I have to reinstall everything again

Device seems to boot up quicker from a soft reset and some of the programs I have been using are alittle bit quicker in responding to screen presses.

That picture...Wizard or Hermes?

Neither. This one is made by Quanta... it's a parallel device to the Xda Atom.

Hi,

Is this a hp world wide update?

I've not been advised by hp Australia that it is available!

Cheers,

The rw68xx is for AP only so that includes Australia :D I think it's safe to update :)

Ok to install on Australian iPaqs... have installed on two devices thus far and all seems to be working well if not a bit better.
:)
The Australian HP web site does not have the update available.

My device has failed to upgrade the ROM for twice already...I am on my third try now...very frustrating... :(

um that is scary.
--
do you get any error messages?
--
ROM upgrade checklist:
1) be sure you have the right ROM for your device
2) remove SIM [if pda phone] + Storage Card/s
3) charge device [atleast 50% best if 100%]
4) hard reset [optional]
5) connect data cable directly to USB port on the desktop/notebook [do not update thru a usb hub]
6) try not to run so many things on the desktop/notebook while upgrading
--
good luck with the 3rd try  hope it works out for yah.

Finally I got it done! 8)
I found out that the error may due to the setup file's extraction location. The upgrade was failed when I extracted the files to drive D.
