<img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-01.jpg" /><br /><br />Earlier in the week, we brought you <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,52566">Part 1</a> of a photo tour of i-mate's booth at GITEX, with most of it centred on the new <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,52536">PDAL</a>. Today, we have Part 2, and it's all about the <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,52536">JAQ3</a>. More pictures after the break. <!><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-02.jpg" /><br /><br />It's better looking than the other <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51216">JAQ</a>. ;)<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-04.jpg" /><br /><br />It has a QWERTY keyboard...<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-07.jpg" /><br /><br />... and a jog dial.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-03.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-05.jpg" /><br /><br />Next to the Axim X50v, the JAQ3 is just a hair smaller in height and width.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/jaq3-06.jpg" /><br /><br />Thanks to the folks at <a href="http://www.dinarsoft.com/">DinarSoft</a> for the snaps.

I just wanted to add some comments about the device.

What I liked
- I like the keyboard a lot, it's a very good one (compared to other keyboards I tried before).
- The screen is very small to my taste (however, I tried browsing and viewing documents and it was OK).

What I didn't like
- There isn't going to be a cradle for this device (apparently this is the trend for most of the new devices).
- The stylus comes out from the bottom (see picture #3).

Some of the argument against "true" VGA screens has been that the text would be too small for the average user.

Obviously the current crop of devices makes it clear that manufacturers have given up worrying about that argument, since the screens are half the size of a VGA screen ... thus they must have the same dpi, and therefore same size text that a true VGA screen would have.

Oh. Sorry. Am I "going on" again? ;-)

can't wait for the next generation of devices from imate [not these ones though]! maybe I'll consider them again if they are still around in 2008 :devilboy:

You might need to wait for a while as they have just released 3 new devices (2 PocketPCs and 1 SmartPhone) and from what I've seen the older devices are still popular.
So, you might need to wait for at least 2 more quarters before they announce anything new.
