<img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20061113-x500a.jpg" /><br /><br />Okay, here we go. This is E-TEN's latest "everything but the kitchen sink" device, the <a href="http://www.etencorp.com/products/Communication/x500.php">glofiish X500</a>. It's one of the thinnest Pocket PC Phones around (just 15.5mm), yet packs some serious hardware: Samsung S3C2442 400MHz processor, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, GPS (SiRFstar III chipset) with TMC support, an FM radio, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2.0-megapixel camera with flash, mini USB, a microSD slot, and Windows Mobile 5.0 with AKU 3.2. Expect a detailed review in the coming weeks. For now, enjoy the few extra shots after the break. <!><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20061113-x500b.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20061113-x500c.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20061113-x500d.jpg" />

Device is looking good, but looking at ETEN's history they will probably release a X500+, that will be really good with more ROM, RAM, maybe better camera...I can't wait for that!
No VGA... :(
Seriously, where is the real all-in-one the-kitchen-sink-and-then-some PPC?

i'm not sure i want to go to micro-sd, but i suppose i could live with that.
if they'd add UMTS/HSDPA i'd call it a winner. a vga screen option for those that want to kill the battery even faster would be a nice product line addition.
i don't need a hardware keyboard, but wouldn't mind it if the other x500ish rumored device comes about (they claim UMTS).

Ditto. I had to use a SIP the other day, and it felt like I was using a different device. I've grown so completely used to my Treo's front-facing thumbboard, I'm now even afraid to switch to a keyboard-slider device, like the Hermes. 8O That might be one reason I'm eyeing the 750 release on Cingular...

I'm still not sold on VGA... My programs will take more room to install because all the icons have to be bigger... The screen uses more power.. It takes more processor power to run the thing.. Many apps still not compatible.. I know it looks nice but.. :)
QVGA is still ok with me.. For now anyway. :D
E-Ten products are great products that are completely ruined in Australia by the local distributor, Bluechip, and their atrocious service. I've just been jipped by them on an $800 dollar phone that is not even 4 months old. The second time I have returned it. The first time they gave the wrong return authority numbers, lost the device, told me it had been repaired, sent it to the wrong place, then denied ever receiving it. Now this time they are claiming water damage on a device that I can attest has never been wet. They say it can be affected by humidity and they won't repair or replace it.
I can't say I am ever going to buy another E-Ten product until they change distributors.

Sorry to hear about your problems. :( I've had issues with Bluechip in the past as well, so I can definitely understand what you've been through.
Trinix (http://trinix.com.au/catalogue/list.jsp?type=vendor&tier=36621) may be a better reseller (I've walked into their store a couple of times and they seem reliable), though you'll have to wait for them to get some X500s in.

I've bought a lot of gear through Trinix and can highly recommend them. However I did not buy my M600 through Bluechip, I bought it through Organiser World( www.ow.com.au), who have gone out of their way to help me and provide assistance. Unfortunately they are only an end distributor and receive their E-Ten products through Bluechip. I am sure the same would be for Trinix as well. Which means that any issues with the product and it will still end up in Bluechip's claws.

Expect it late next week or the week after. I'd love to have it out earlier, but things are a little hectic at the moment. :(
