It wants to be a portable media player, and to that effect it’s got a funky design, compact form factor, multimedia features and more memory than is usually included on a PDA. But other kids in the schoolyard like the iPod and Creative Zen Vision:M - who cost the same amount - are much bigger and stronger than the rx4540 is. The rx4540’s lack of media playback buttons are its chief shortcoming, and while 1GB of memory is indeed a lot for a Pocket PC, it’s chump change compared to the equivalently-priced iPod, which has eighty times that amount of storage."

Jenneth at GirlsGoneMobile.net has completed her review of the rx4540 Mobile Media Companion (check out their photo review here), and her conclusions appear to be spot on based on the comments made in our forums - it really doesn't offer enough to be more than a niche device. Looks like back to the drawing board for HP!
