I've been fortunate enough to get hold of a review unit of the slick new 8525.

Have got some quick unboxing pics and some Day 1 thoughts posted at:

I just got the Cingular 8525 and love it. However, I am trying to set-up the WiFi and have been unable to get it to work. Has anyone set-up a 802.1b network on this yet?

I just got my device and it works fine with my work and house wi-fi. But I'm dissappointed with the battery life and some program bugs such as the pdf clear view. Sometimes clearview just closes itself when I'm reading a document.

What error(s) are you receiving? Let us know what the device is doing, and we'll try to figure it out!

I should be receiving my 8525 in the next few days and would like to begin planning the transition from my current SX66.

Any suggestions on how best to transfer the files from my SD card to the microSD card coming from Amazon? I'm thinking of downloading the contents to my desktop and then reloading it on the 8525. Is this reasonable?

My SX66 had been working relatively well until it hit my driveway facedown and the screen cracked.

Thanks,

Michael

I usually use a card reader to copy files from an SD to a directory on my computer, and then copy them over to the microSd. Your MicroSD card should have an adapter to make it fit into a regular SD card reader. In a pinch you could transfer using ActiveSync's Explore option, however this usually takes longer than just using a card reader.

Jon, thanks for the quick reply.

Would someone explain how the TeleNav service works and whether additional hardware or software are required beyond the service plan?

Thanks,

Michael

I've been testing the Telenav service with a Cingular 8125 for about 2 weeks now. You DO need additional hardware, a GPS antenna which sells for about $100 at Telenav although you can find cheaper ones. The service works by tracking your position and then downloading a map of your current position. They offer a 30 day free trial when you sign up for service.

Good Luck!
