GooSync will seamlessly synchronize almost any mobile device with your on-line Google calendar. No software required simply SIGNUP and START SYNCING. Never be without your vital calendar information AGAIN! Did we mention that this service is FREE? That's right you can get all of your Google calendar data in the palm of your hand and it will not cost you a thing!"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/ekkie_goosync_200611.jpg" /><br /><br />Any Google Calendar users out there? I love the idea of a free service synchronizing my online calendar with my mobile device, but I might have preferred a utility that allows me to synchronize that calendar with my Outlook, but I'm sure that doesn't apply to everyone. One potential caveat is that you'll also need to be comfortable providing a free service provider with your Google username and password in order to test this out. Anyway, give us your thoughts! Is this a valuable service to you?

too good to be true! 8O

any catch you guys/gals seen? is the free offer only during beta stage or something?

anyways, anybody tried this already? I got burned by RemoteCalendar so I'm not touching anything yet until I hear something like 10+ possitive feedbacks on this app.

thanks!

This is exactly what I have been looking for since I do use Google Calender on my PC and Pocket Informant on my Axim but I also have a big problem with giving my gmail name and password to a company that I have never heard of.

What I may do is create a new dummy gmail account just for this.

I just tried it and it works pretty slick. I wish you could set auto updates, for now you have to tap the sync button. Looks like contacts is coming soon, if it stays free it would be great but I'm not counting on it (unless google buys them out also!) I don't have any private data on my gmail to worry about, maybe they should check out my spam :devilboy:

Does it sync in both directions? For some reason, I thought that it only downloaded the online stuff to the handheld, but not the other direction.

mlh1962, can you confirm that you can make "upstream" changes as well?

Thanks.

Does nobody use www.scheduleworld.com to sync that to their gmail calendar? I've been using it a while, works in both directions, and with the funambol plugin for outlook can sync to that too. Can also be set to do so every 15 minutes. Oh, did I mention it's free too...

sounds nice but i don't like the fact that my schedule is going through their server. privacy issue? i am not tech savvy so i am not sure if what i am saying makes sense.

As an fyi, it didn't carry over recurring events from my device to my google calendar. Everything else synced fine....but nada for recurring events. So for me, it isn't a workable solution.....unless I missed a setting somewhere.

Just did another test and it does work upstream also.

One of the main advantages for me is our F.D. has several personnel who set up meetings and we are planning to share a google calendar so everyone is on the same page with no conflicts. With a program like this my Wizard will always be up to date.

I think I will check out www.scheduleworld.com also, I hadn't heard of that.

I am able to sync my new google calender account and have the settings on it to share my old calender which works nicely but I am having trouble syncing the shared calenders.

Can anyone sync their shared calenders?

I think it will only sync calendars from yours google account. If it is a shared calendar from another user account it doesn't seem to work.

Here's a list of known issues they list:
Outstanding issues and requests.
- Authentication Proxy, awaiting on Google development for C# classes.
- Timezone and Allday issue on PocketPC.
- Recurrence.
- Domain support.
- MultiCalendar Support.

What about privacy???? What do they need address for?

They will be able to read all email all the time, personal, finantial... even change your password.

they should ask you for your social security number at this point..

I think I trust google more then a new company like this one.

I probably wait untill google has the software out.....

think it will only sync calendars from your google account

You can set up a "sync account" that shares the calendar with each participant via pc and then simply use the same login id to access the common calendar with multiple ppc's

however, I think it's going to share the entire calendar... i.e. your personal info synced from outlook as well.

My bet is they are using the google data API, since Gmail/contacts does not have any API available yet, it wont be anytime soon to have such service available for synchronization. (too bad as now my new start business and personal emails are both on gmail)
