<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.jasondunn.com/welcome-to-my-personal-blog-28' target='_blank'>http://www.jasondunn.com/welcome-to...ersonal-blog-28</a><br /><br /></div><i>"So here’s the funny thing about creating and running Web sites for a living (which is what I do): you end up having really high expectations for each site you launch, and you want everything to be perfectly in place before you launch. Let’s take a brief inventory list here on this site. First, we have an easy to use CMS - WordPress, all set up and ready to rock as of two months ago. Check. Next, we have a killer template, courtesy of Mr. Darius Wey, finished more than a month ago. Check. My matching photo gallery template is also completed, as of two weeks ago. Check. So what was left? Nothing - yet somehow I was obsessing over the smallest details the way I do with a Thoughts Media site. Then I was reminded of a simple truth a few days ago: the entire reason I’m launching this personal blog is to give myself a no-pressure, talk-about-whatever-I-want place that has no connection to my “real” job. So what the hell was I waiting for exactly? And here we go - launched!"</i><br /><br />I've decided to launch a personal blog (with an awesome template - go Darius!), and all the reasons why <a href="http://www.jasondunn.com/welcome-to-my-personal-blog-28">are in my first post</a>. It's more of a personal project than anything else, but if you enjoy my ranting here you may enjoy the blog. It also is the home to some <a href="http://www.jasondunn.com/archive/velo/index2.htm">really</a> <a href="http://www.jasondunn.com/archive/windowsce/index2.html">old</a> <a href="http://www.jasondunn.com/archive/fraud/index2.htm">projects</a> that are entertaining to look at in retrospect. I also wanted to let you know about <a href="http://www.ispnmedia.com/2006/10/25/side-salad-episode-3-jason-dunn">a podcast I did with Vincent Ferrari</a> as part of his "Side Salad" podcast. It has nothing to do with vegetables (although I do say "you know" a lot, so seemingly I may have some form of brain damage) and everything to do with Thoughts Media, the sites I run with the great volunteers that help me, and some good discussion on all sorts of tech topics. I enjoy being a guest on podcasts, because it's a lot easier than doing one myself where I have to think up a lot of great questions to answer. ;-) And that concludes the Jason Dunn Show...back to your regular programming.

Oh yeah...I guess I need to take stock of my Web properties a bit better! ;-) Link has been added. I think that's the only one I forgot.

Am I the only one who has to squint to ease the glare from all that red?

Nice design but all that red is too much for my eyes!

Yes, I think so. I think the site looks great. Mind you, for reading a long essay, it might be less comfortable than white-on-black, but on my screen (LCD), the contrast is good and the red is not too strong when reading a few posts.

Not as much as I used to be, but yeah, I dig his older stuff - he got the stuff. ;-) Some of his new stuff is pretty cool too, though it's not like it's on my Top 40 playlist. ;-)

I like his older stuff too. Especially late 60's early 70's era.

The design is just awsome. Love the Asian look!!! Though, all the photos are taking FOREVER to load on my PC.

Seems once again I'm the only one browsing on a Pocket PC. In WM2003SE, neither Pocket IE nor NetFront 3.3 is loading a page. PIE just gives me about 1 second of 'trying' then stops. No error. NetFront gives a blank white page. No red. No phofos.

Yeah, you might say I have a "thing" for Asian-inspired design. Here are some photos from my house:

(they were taken four years ago, so things have changed somewhat, but you get the idea)

Though, all the photos are taking FOREVER to load on my PC.

All the photos? There aren't any photos on the home page. Or do you mean my Smugmug site?

Come on, that shouldn't surprise you. ;-) At any rate, I've implemented a plugin that converts the site into a mobile format. It's an XHTML theme that, while sparse, does the trick. Hit it again.

Not surprised, just amused that so many Pocket PC users don't use them online. A dialup modem was the very first accessory I bought for my first Casio. Camera came second. But I know, most people seem to like PCs better... sigh.

The mobile version looks good, thanks Jason. And congratulations. I think you're becoming what Dale might have, had he stuck it out: omnipresent.

:soapbox:

One thing Jason is that Dale isn't is approachable and personable.

I met Jason at the 2003 CES. He talked to me for a bit, and so on, and was truly friendly. Dale, on the other hand couldn't be bothered.

Now I'm not saying I'm some high-on-the-totem-pole guy, but when someone tells you they're a fan of your work and you're utterly disinterested, it's a big turnoff. Jason didn't do that. Dale did.

Not a knock on Dale, though. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe his dog crapped on his carpet. Maybe he just didn't like my handshake. Who knows. Truth is, that kind of impression sticks with people a long time and I never forgot it.

I finally got around to listening to the "Side Salad" podcast, really enjoyed it. Mr. Dunn, it's a pleasure to hear you share your thoughts (no pun intended) on the various topics (vista, zune, windows mobile, 360, etc.). A regular Dunn Thoughts podcast would very likely be a hit.
