I've never really been into the whole instant message craze. A 5 or 6 years back I remember when all of my friends discovered the internet, of course they turned to AOL. And they spent hours on AIM. I was a craze and since then most of them use it less often.

But now there are more options out there for communications like AIM, MSN, Skype, and others... I've recognized their usefulness when it comes to collaboration and communication.

I've recently gotten a skype account. But I wonder... is that enough?

I wonder what you all out there are using? I know many people probably use multiple, but I'd like to know your primary, whether its your preference for some reason, or out of necessity.

If I missed one, post it in the thread.

I picked e-mail, though I wouldn't say anything faster gives me a headache. I use IM solutions a lot (primarily MSN), mainly for a quick chat or something urgent.

While email has been the de-facto standard for the last few years, the BB craze, I think that instant messaging will become the new standard with voice and video capability. Once the bandwidth is available and you can Video Skype or Video Mail someone...Who'd sit to type out an email? It'd become as old fashioned as letter writing.

Hmmm...
Not many responses, but most of them seem to favor plain email. I guess I should chsnge its tag line. Since push email can be pretty fast.

I prefer AIM but I also run Yahoo. I refuse to run any more then 2 messaging programs though. Everyone I know has at least one of them.

I primarily use AIM, and have had my current AIM userid for around 8 years. I do also use Yahoo because one of my friends will only use it...
