Ok so I get this email from my MOTHER! asking if I thought these places offering 'free' satellite tv on your PC are OK. I took one look at the web pages and figured they looked - ehem - marginal.

But I wondered if anyone here has any comment or experience to share. Personally I would avoid these things, but then I'm not like my mother :devilboy:

Oh - what am I talking about?

Thanks in advance for any comments - including laughter and derision :-)

The upside is that these programs really do work, it's not entirely a scam. The downside is that 99.999% of the channels they offer are ones no one would ever want to bother watching. Unless you speak 15 languages, you're likely to only find a handful of channels that you can actually watch. Also, these streams are free, so they're basically charging you just for aggregating them together. You're not likely to find CNN or HBO in these packages.

But doesn't Slingbox require that you already *have* satellite or cable?

yes you do that's why I said you get what you pay for. the biggest problem is that you won't get all that you want from a free service.
