View Full Version : Is there a way to know what COM ports are free?

Hi, I am trying to locate free COM ports. I came across a utility called DeviceX from Franson which seems to do it, but, in my case (Cingular 8125/HTC Wizard with WM5), it does not show ports as used that I KNOW are used (such as the Bluetooth serial port for the GPS).

So, does anyone know of a utility or a way to look in the registry, or anything else, to know what COM ports are in use, and what they are being used for?

Thanks,

-Kal.

With WM5.0 devices if you go into Bluetooth settings and tap on the COM ports tab you can run down the list trying each port. You will get a message for each saying if they are available or not.
