The only place you can get a WM2003 upgrade for your Viewsonic is from Viewsonic themselves. If they never issued one, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.
As for GPS, as long as the program is compatible with PPC2002 (which is what I assume you have), then you shouldn't have a problem with the software. The GPS receivers of course are a different issue.

ViewSonic did issue a WM2003 upgrade for the V35, but it was so long ago, I'm not sure if they even sell it anymore. If you're having trouble, try eBay.

Hardware-wise, you're limited. The V35 lacks Bluetooth and a CF slot. So, keeping within the realm of current technology, you have two options: (a) a SDIO GPS module, such as the SD-502 (http://www.globalsat.com.tw/eng/product_detail_00000053.htm) from GlobalSat, but it's only compatible with WM2003 and higher; (b) a SDIO Bluetooth card (Socket sells these) and a separate Bluetooth GPS receiver (available from many manufacturers).
As you can tell, all the different accessories and platform upgrades you need to get soon add up in cost. It's also a huge hassle in general. If you really want GPS functionality and an updated version of Windows Mobile (latest is v5.0), you may be better off retiring your V35 and getting a new GPS-enabled Pocket PC.

[color=blue][color=blue]At the same time I bought my V-36 (Nov 03), I also bougth the Pharos Ostia GPS Navigation and Routing Software for Pocket PCs. The two work well together. I attached the antenna to the car dashboard with Velcro so I can easily move it to my wife's car if we use it or even operate it in my sailboat. The two products work together well. I purchased my Pharos at MobilePlanet. I also purchased a different mount for my V-36, rather than hang it on the vents, it sits on a mount attached to a flexible arm that attaches to the dashboard.
