Anyway to create shortcuts to SMS message?

On the Treo you can create shortcuts to send a Text (SMS) message to a particular individual.

I find sending text messages on WM5 sort of cumbersome (lots of steps). I have SPB Pocket Plus and was wondering if there is a way to create a shortcut on the Today screen to immediately launch a text message compose window to a particular contact...

Are you sending an SMS with a Phone Edition, or sending an e-mail? If the latter, you can create a new message with your intended recipient's address in place and save it as a draft or template. Then, you can create a shortcut that points to that specific document.

I don't know if that can be done with SMS; I've never created a template for SMS.

Was specifically thinking about sending an SMS (with WM5 phone edition). That's an interesting idea though. Will have to investigate creating a template. (Have never tried it with an email or SMS...)
