Hi everybody! I'm still a little shell-shocked, but when Jason first approached me about being a Contributing Editor, I jumped at the chance. So here I am, the latest Contributing Editor-in-Training for Pocket PC Thoughts. My name's Nurhisham Hussein (no relation to Saddam), aka hishamh, so here's a little about myself.

I'm from Malaysia...you know, that little bit of land between Thailand and Singapore, with that little bit on the side near Indonesia. ;) I work as an economist in a fund management company, about a 10 minute walk from the site of the ex-tallest buildings in the world. I know: that's about as un-sexy a profession as you can get. My first real experience with technology was when I was about seven - playing 3D chess against a mainframe at Stanford University. To give you an idea how long ago that was, it was before the Apple II was released! I've been a geek ever since. I first got into Pocket PCs in 2004 looking for a way to listen to audible.com content on the go, and it's been downhill from there...I'd never imagined I'd get this involved in a community, though I'm glad I did. My other interests include reading, music and econometric time series models.

I hope I can help keep up the standards the news team has brought to this site over the years - it's a tough task! Meanwhile, I'll still be hanging around the forums, helping out where I can. Being largely in the same time zone as Darius means we can pretty much cover the news more or less round the clock without knocking everybody out, especially with so many exciting developments coming out of Asia.

You know, the one bad thing about this is now I have absolutely no excuse not to get a Windows Mobile 5 device...

Apa khabar hishamh! I was surprised to see someone from Malaysia made headlines in PPCThoughts! I am from Penang, but currently in North Carolina for my doctoral studies. It is wonderful to have someone from home in one of my favorite websites. My foray into ppc started with to Toshiba e740, then the e750. Right now, I am using the Qtek9100. In anycase, tahniah! :)

Hello Nurhisham,
This is actually my first post in Pocketpcthoughts.com, or in any online forum for that matter (besides my unwillingly posts for some of my online clasees), any way. I wish you luck on your new endeavor. I have been a fan of this site since purchasing pocket rss reader from HappyJackRoad with the pocketpcthoughts.com RSS feed preloaded on the application and enjoying the lengthy rss pulls showing on my today screen using Pocket Breeze (it helped deter people from playing around with my ppc; claiming that it looked to complex due to the legthy text rotation evey two seconds).
I am happy to see that [i]you[i] found an excuse to switch to a Windows mobile 2005 device. I have yet to find a reason, being that all of the ppc phone editions offered in the US have the 2.8 inch screen (which in my opinion is to small to be ejoy the touch screen feature). I have contemplated importing the I-Mate JasJar with the impressive 3.6 inch screen, I prefer the 3.5 inch displays and the JasJar might be too bulky.
I have been a pocket pc enthusiast for exactly 374 days and this (pocketpcthoughts.com) is my undoubtedly my favorite site.
Thanks for reading this lengthy post
P.S. break a leg, or more apropriately: break a screen (I've done it 6 times)
I hope my post does not encourage a character limit for posts.

PCC enthusiast, Frankie N.

Good time for it - and thanks.

It's more in the nature of understanding what everybody else is going through in adjusting to the changes in WM5, then any real desire for them - I find most as unattractive as you seem to.

I hope my post does not encourage a character limit for posts.

Not a chance ;)

Congratulations Nurhisham,
On many occasions I've found your posts to be very articulate and knowledge-able. Truly a good choice for the position. :approve:

+Here are some preperation tips for WM5:
+Operate your WM 2003SE device at an arms distace (to adjust to the smaller display)
+Tape your spare battery to the back of your device. (to simulate the bulkieness)
+Hard reset your device and reconfigure it once a month (to mock the firmware updates that you will have to install)
+Go back to the store where you bought your SD card and donate $30 (about how much more mini SDs are compared to regular SDs
+Keep in mind that your doing for a good cause :D

"May the force be with you!
