I have really apprecaited the alarm feature both on my iPAQ 3900 and my Cingular 8125. However, after a time, both of them have failed to operate consistently. What good is an alarm if you can't rely on it to ring?

Any ideas what might be causing this? Any suggestions about how to trouble shoot? Anyone else have this problem?

Sorry, I can't help, but I can empathize. The alarms (at least for me) have always been a major issue on the PocketPC platform. I can count on one hand the number of time it failed on me on my PalmOS devices, but I usually have at least one missed alarm a week on the PocketPC.

One thing to try is to make sure there are no duplicates in the notification queue. There are a few programs out there (SK Tools, Memmaid to name the commercial ones) that will do this for you. There are also some apps out there that run at reset to clear things out. (I think Scary Bear software had a free one.) Some people have claimed to prevent the duplicates by changing some reg settings to increase the time the device wakes up for when running some nightly routine (Tweaks2k2 has this I believe).

Checking out the duplicate issue might at least help with the problem (no guarantees that it will totally eradicate all alarm issues, though). Someone may be by with some freeware suggestions. (None come to mind right now because I already have the above apps.)

TBH, I haven't had any alarm problems on my WM2003SE device (including repeating alarms), but had plenty on an iPaq 2210 (WM2003) which was resolved with the help of the Scary Bear software.

alarms are a joke on the PPC platform.. nearly made me go to Palm OS..

Luckily I only have 1 repeating alarm every morning on my HP 2210

I haven't had any problems with my MDA, but on my WM2003 device, the alarms were never on time. I could set it up for a certain time, and triple check that AM was selected. When that time would come, it would magically be changed to PM, and the alarm would never sound. No amount of hard resetsor rom flashes helped.
