Don't get me wrong, the Hermes is an amazing device but like many other newly (and not so newly) launched devices, it isn't perfect. There is plenty of discussion on other forums about the Hermes' shortcomings but, as yet, there has been little of that here so I thought I'd start a thread where we could collect a few gripes :mrgreen: .

Key issues that have been recorded elsewhere are that
- a significant number of folks have found their screens regularly 'sliding' out of alignment. I haven't hit that one yet.
- there have been many complaints about dodgy keyboards with keys not working or keys requiring unusual amounts of force to persuade them to work. Again, I haven't found this.
- Like others, I have found that bluetooth and WiFi really don't like working together on the Hermes: If I have a WiFi connection going and start bluetooth, the WiFi connection is toast. Every time. Not much good if you want to browse and listen to music on your BT headphones :( .
- Several people seem to be pretty annoyed about the effect of the magnets in the belt pouch supplied with the Hermes: They force the screen into the landscape format and so it's that way whenever the Hermes is taken out of its case. It reverts to portrait within a second or two.

As for me, apart from what I've identified above, I just can't get my backlight settings to stick: On battery power, I can have the backlight on all the time or for 10 seconds. Any other setting reverts to the 10 second one almost immediately.

What's your bad experience?

I can't get over the fact that no-one else here is having any problems with this thing! I'm just adding this post to the previous one to record a few other issues:

- There is something wrong with the way that the Hermes relates to its ATI Imageon chip. Try firing up TCPMP and you'll see what I mean: the whole screen shakes and stutters. If you can guess where the options button is, you can set the video settings to anythng other than Imageon and videos will play, just at lower quality than you would like.
- A2DP streaming is, in the words of a contributor elsewhere, "not quite ready for commercial release." (and that's even with the Wi-Fi off). It jumps, stutters and pauses. There are some hacks around which promise to improve the situation, but the best that can be achieved has been described as "almost liveable with."
- The battery meter (and it doesn't appear to matter what aftermarket battery meter you use) only counts in steps of 10%. I seem to recall this being an issue on early Wizards, and I believe it was fixed in a ROM update, so I'm hoping.

Despite all this, it's still a great PPC and I'm loving it. I'm even almost getting used to that itty bitty little 2.8" screen,

Week#5 with dopod 838Pro (TyTN)
Hardware Issues: none
Firmware Issues: nothing major, just a few minor gripes to make this system perfect.
AS needs an easy tweak to set exhange server connections to manual;
A2DP stereo setting UseJointStereo should be set to 0;
Front video camera use with skype

Cheers
