So you can now connect directly from the card to your PC, Mac or laptop, without adapters, cables or wireless. Quick and simple, this product is perfect for transferring data from your mobile device to your laptop or desktop."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20060824-proportasdusb.jpg" /><br /><br />A great concept in application once again. Unfortunately, the number of new Pocket PCs with SD card slots is dwindling, but if you still have an old one, then this card may come in handy. Proporta is selling it in a 2GB configuration. However, unlike other SD/USB combo cards in the market, Proporta's doesn't appear to include some sort of connector cap, so you'll probably have to take extra care when handling this one.

It seems you're thinking of Smartphones here. Last I saw, all the Pocket PCs to come out this year use SD cards exclusively.

I wouldn't exactly say it was a dying format yet.

Note that Pocket PC Phones fall under the Pocket PC spectrum. HTC Wizard, HTC Hermes, E-TEN G500 and E-TEN G500+, HP iPAQ hw6900 series, etc. All now use miniSD or microSD. The number of new devices with original SD support is seriously falling.

Is it just me, or is the person in the picture putting the card into the SD slot backwards?

You raise a good point, unless this is a gadget with a slim USB connector embedded in the SD slot.

Not only that, but there's an image on Proporta's site of (I assume) the same person attempting to insert the card into a camera backwards.

Ahem, whoops... It is a bit backwards isn't it. I've spoken to the people in charge of photos, asked them to retake the pictures and get them posted as soon as possible.

I've also ensured they're assigned to tea and coffee duty for the next month as punishment...

I've also enquired about a connector cap of some sort, and we'll see what we can do. I use one of these myself tho (with no cap and the right way round) and have no problems at all.

Feel free to get in touch with any other questions/comments ;)

All the best...

Simon

Lol. Good on ya.

Any idea when you guys will have a metal case for the M600i? Most of the time I will carry it naked, but sometimes I would like that extra protection that the metal case offers. I have had 5 of your metal cases so far, and was extremely impressed with every one of them.

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments on our cases - always nice to know they're appreciated :)

For the M600i, we currently have both book and flip type Alu Leather cases in stock, and are working on getting metal cases, silicone cases and crystal cases. The best I can suggest at the moment is to keep an eye on Proporta.com for future developments - we hope it wont take long.

Cheers.

(Edit to fix Friday afternoon typos - I think I'm calling for my first cup of cofee... hopefully I won't get it backwards... ;) )

Ooooh a crystal case might be better. Show's off the device better :D

All now use miniSD or microSD.
Then I wonder if it's possible to make a microSD-to-SD or miniSD-to-SD adapter that includes a USB connector? :D

Does this allow USB flash drives to transfer files directly in to this card if inserted in pocket pc ?
Thanks

It's a male USB connector, not a female USB connector, and furthermore, it lacks host support. So, unfortunately, it won't work.

Hmm. I wish that functionality was available which makes the need of a pc/laptop a remote thing. I know loox series has that capability. well with this we may not need a flash drive as it can be used as one itself.
thanks.
