Just recently, though, Spb Software House introduced v1.5 of this popular image viewer and editor - introducing support for Windows Mobile 5.0, and including enhancements to memory usage and thumbnail rendering. If you're an existing registered user, then this is a free update. Otherwise, head over to our affiliate software store for a free trial version or the full version.

I've been using this version now for a couple days and must say that its a huge improvement over the prior in terms of speed of thumbnails as well as memory management of them. I've some folders which it just simply hung - but are fine now. Update is well overdue, but very welcome. Fingerscrossed it won't be so long until the next update

I love SPB products in general but have always gone back to the Resco Photo Viewer. Has SPB finally done this one right?

As it is mentioned above, Spb Imageer 1.5 differs mainly in support of WM5 and some speed and memory usage improvements. I can say that during last months we've received a lot of feature requests from users and we are going to implement most interesting requests in the next versions of Spb Imageer. If you have any ideas feel free to share them with us either by using our support page (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/imageer/support.html?en) or email me directly via buktop (at) softspb (dot) com :)

Good to see you Victor. I should be getting a Sprint 700w in the next few weeks and will do that.

Thanks!

I'd love to see Menneisyys' comments on this update.

I have Imageer, but it's been crashing when I go into slideshow mode, and is somewhat slow especially when viewing full resolution pictures on my camera card. It could very well be something else I installed because it didn't do that at first, but I don't have time to fool around with it. Installed the trial of Resco's Photo Viewer and it has worked excellently so far and is very fast. When showing off my pictures, I hate when the photo app crashes or takes so long to load up the next picture. Hopefully this update works well. From the previous posts, it seems that other people have had luck with it.

Victor, I've noticed a couple of bugs in the Windows Mobile 5.0 support.

First, the "Set as Wallpaper" command doesn't appear to produce the desired result. The wallpaper doesn't show, and it also switches the Today text elements to black.

Second, in edit mode, the SIP button still shows and covers a portion of the right soft key.

Can you (or anyone else) reproduce these two bugs? If so, it's probably worth patching in a future release.

Just bought and downloaded Imageer for the first time and installed on my PPC6600. Great program - fast, intuitive - typical of all SPB products! I like it for quick editing. I use Conduits as a rule but Imageer loads MUCH faster. Anyway, I'm a happy camper.

Hello Darius and thanks for this report! I'll check these issues and surely they will be fixed! :)

I agree with other posters that the speed and memory usage issues are greatly improved!

However there are two features that will greatly improve Imageer even more in the next release. Adding more file formats, specifically PNG and TGA, as these are being used much more frequently in PPC programs.

And the biggest feature enhancement, in my opinion, would be to add a folder view in the "browser" feature in Imageer - presently the ability to have a simple split view with folders in one window and thumbnails in another, is not available in many PPC photo apps. (Xnview is a good example of this view).

Browsing photos the same way that some file explorers let you browse folders and files helps a lot. The dual window view in some file explorers which show a top window with folders and a bottom window with the files contained in the highlighted folder.Since this appears to be a mid-point release, and did not jump to 2.0, maybe these are features that can be considered for the next major release. Adding these features would place Imageer so far ahead of its competitors that they'll just close up shop!! (Well, maybe not! But it really would put Imageer even farther ahead of the pack!)

Please add this to the "Maybe" feature request list, Victor.

Thanks!
