Hi, i've been looking for an one-handed portable keyboard for so many years (if not a decade), but i can't get one to fit my basic need: portablitiy and compatability. If you're one-handed keyboard user or you know any of them, please share your thoughts.

For so many years, i can only think of two potential choices, but seems so undesirable.

1. Twiddler

this device is famous to many old folks in wearable computing because it's one of the first portable one-handed keyboards. The best of all is that you can theoretically possible to do running and typing at the same time with this keyboard.

I've heard this company around 7 years ago when they made the first version of a keyboard called "Twiddler". I was so interested to buy one and get it connect to my Palm, but you had to buy a big PS/2 to Palm Slot to do it, so i declined. Some time later, they released Twiddler 2, but it's mainly for connecting to PS/2 slot again. For 7 years, there's still no official driver for Palm, and the support for pockpc is even not mentioned in the website.

2. Frogpad

This company is at least more active in the market, and their keyboards can support palm or pocket pc (kill me, $149 for one:roll: ) . But look at the picture, the so-called 'one handed' is actually two handed: One for typing, another one for holding the keyboard. The design is worse than Twiddler.

I've been thinking about getting a left handed usb frogpad for my computer for a while now just so I can keep my right hand on the mouse when working on stuff. They keep trying to market it as a solution for mobile devices but I just don't see it as being very efficient. I'm glad my pda has a slideout keyboard so I don't have to worry about it. Now to save up a little cash for a bluetooth gamepad for my nes emulator :)

I tend to buy a twiddler2 if it's avaliable to pocket pc , but that company who makes it is rather hopeless or living in the world that doesn't belong to our generations.

Which slide keyboard are you using? And how many WPM do you have with your slide keyboard? After so many years searching, I still don't like slide keyboard, but it seems to be the most practical option for me to choose in my next PDA.

I've got the t-mobile mda and it has a built in slide out keyboard. I'm ok on it, but it's a little weird since the letters are arranged so gridlike. I was a lot faster on my old sidekick. That think had a really nice keyboard on it. I tend to type with my left thumb and my index middle and ring afinger on my right hand. It works out pretty well that way.

seems that this position may hurt the right hand, but i'll definitely try your way to see if it can speed up mobile typing. For this moment, i'm using an infrared keyboard which can meet most of my needs. I use it on the bus or train all the time, but it just can't let me type anything when i'm walking.
