However, if you're an interested US resident, you'll likely need to go overseas as Sony's CMT-series of speakers have only been released in Asia and Europe over the past few years.

I suppose you have to install Sony's spyware and submit to a body cavity search every time you want to use it.
After Sony attacked PC users with their rootkit, I don't know of anything they make that I would want to buy.

Good thing they are Sony. This means they will NOT be using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack with it's superior A2DP capabilities. ;)
Sorry for the sarcasm. It was just too easy.

ah the wireless freedom of bluetooth. I guess that means you will be able to put the speakers anywhere you want ... but how do you power them??? Chug through lots of batteries that run out just when the party has started, or plug the speakers into the wall socket which defeats the purpose of bluetooth freedom.

You could say the same thing about BT headsets or BT-enabled GPS receivers as well, but I'd argue that both have proven very valuable in their wireless capabilities.
Even if you have to plug the speakers, it still means you can hold the audio input device in your hand or within your vicinity without being tethered to the speakers themselves or having a cord in between that someone could trip over. The speakers can remain stationery while the device can follow you around. If you want to make the speakers portable, then you take some rechargeable batteries along... that's something you'd have to deal with anyway even if the speakers were wired to the device.
