How do I send email via SMS on the Verizon 6700??

when i was on tmobile using two different ppc phones i could put 500 or 501 in the send field then put the email address in the body and put 2 spaces behind it and type my message out and send it to the email.... well the xv6700 not letting me do that.... so how is it done on this phone????

If my records are correct, on Verizon the magic target number is "6245". I haven't tried it in years, but give it a shot.
