Hi,

I made a switch from Palm to PPC about 3 years ago and the only application that I missed with passion was a good outliner capable of integration with OL - I used Shadow Plan on Palm, some others used Bonsai. I've been searching for a good replacement for a couple of years, using Streamliner as an interim solution (sucked as far as integration / feature set goes, but was great in simplicity).

Well, the wait was over when just over a year ago I discovered Pocket Thinker (available at http://www.pocketthinker.com).

It does a lot of things that ShadowPlan used to do, it misses on some features but shines on its own in other areas, especially Outlook integration that's second to none.

It's desktop package can be ran as a standalone but it's especially great when installed as an Outlook addin, in which case you can work with outlines from inside outlook.

You can export any outline node to Outlook Task or Appointment, you can import Outlook Appointments, Tasks and Contacts in PT outlines, you can link nodes to any outlook item or any file or any directory or URL address or even Lotus Notes emails !

Of course you can also link between outlines. The Pocket PC version has most of the desktop functionality and they are coming out with even more advanced version later this year. And both versions together cost less than $20. (and you can buy just PC or just PPC, too).

PT allows import & export of ShadowPlan, Bonsai, Streamliner, Word, CSV, text & html outlines. I was able to convert all of my old Shadow outlines in a matter of minutes (the links between them were gone, of course, but it took just a few more taps to recreate them).

It also has alphanumeric priority, progress, Start, Due & Target dates, Notes fields. They all (except I think Notes) are sortable. It doesn't yet have custom fields or filters (except checked items filter), I believe this is planned for v2.

Last but not least, the developers are very responsive - most my emails were answered the same day, and most of my suggestions were either incorporated into the program or put on a todo list for next version.

No, I am not working for them. ;) I just think that for all the great work they do developing software they are way too shy / inactive when it comes to promoting it. There's not a single outliner / information manager on PPC that comes close (especially considering that both PC and PPC versions are equally strong, which is rarely the case).
