Hello all. I currently have a HP RX3115. I have had it almost two years now and I am looking to upgrade to something a little more sleeker and "thinner". Does anyone know if there are any future releases of anything like that? I know that they have the Motorola Q, but I am not yet ready for a PDA/Phone Combination. I just want to know if there is anything out there better than my HP. Thanks in advance.

Standalone Pocket PCs are moving rather slowly. What exactly do you want that your rx3115 doesn't meet? The one I'd probably consider is an Axim X51v, because of its VGA screen, but it's probably not smaller. Is it merely the size? Is the rx3115 that annoyingly large?

No, the Rx3115 isnt too big, just surprised that they havent had any smaller ones out. I am always just looking for something a little better, I am a tech junkie. It pretty much has everything I need.

If you're a real tech junkie, then you need a VGA device like the X51v. :) (And don't forget the bluetooth keyboard, GPS bundle...)

I don't think there seems to be a huge priority amongst manufacturers for extremely compact non-connected Pocket PCs. HP used to have a very successful pair of lines in the 19xx and 41xx units, but they largely ditched them. There's the rx1955, which is quite small, but it's pretty weak statswise.

As applejosh implied, you may want to broaden your search past size. There's a lot of cool features out there. :)

8O Do you know of a Pocket PC from anywhere that is slimmer than the rx3115? The rx3115 isn't that large...

The rx3115 dimensions:
114.3 x 71.2 x 16.3 mm
147.4g
Some alternatives:
Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket Loox C550 (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/products/mobile/handhelds/pocket_loox_c_series.html)
Dimensions: 116 x 71 x 14 mm
160g
Acer N311 (http://www.acer.com.sg/products/n300/p_n300.asp)
Dimensions: 110 x 70 x 13.7 mm
135g
Both are VGA, WM5, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, have wifi, bluetooth, and USB host, and are about equal in dimensions to the rx3115. In addition the Loox is 802.11g.
As a further alternative, you might want to look at the Loox N-series (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/products/mobile/handhelds/pocket_loox_n_series.html), which is identical in dimensions and weight as the C-series, but with added GPS (SiRF Star III chipset). The 500 lacks wifi and bluetooth, the 520 lacks bluetooth, and the 560 has both in addition to being VGA. Obviously costs will vary depending on model and features. Only the Acer is available in the US (I think - I know the Looxes aren't).

Good catch! I stand corrected. ;) I wonder if F/S (or Acer for that matter) will ever get a clue and start selling these units more broadly, so that we wouldn't have to import them.
