I used to have TXT files associated with PHM Notepad. But I found that too basic, so changed to Pocket Word. At lesat that opens large files, and allows formatting, but it is a bit 'heavy.

Is there a simpler program anyone can recommend please? One that for example lets me apply bold formatting and change font sizes. And ideally I'd prefer a more intuitive file open browsing method. All these MS apps (and most others) insist on showing files from collective folders, and also never show the extension. I far prefer the usual desktop PC browsing approach I've grown accustomed to over 20 years or so. (Never understood why MS had to change it for PPCs.)

I'm using Pocket Notepad. Its free, small file size and WM5 compatible.

It wont handle large files but otherwise is a great notepad app for ppc\wm. For the DL you'll want this file: http://tillanosoft.com/anonymous_ftp/pub/ce/pnpad40e.zip

Thanks. I've just started trying that one, from a recommendation elsewhere, and I quite like it. However, it doesn't meet one of my requirements, namely to apply selective formatting (like making headings bold).

I suppose what I'm after is the PPC equivalent of WordPad, which allows 'rich text format' and opens any size of file, without all the overkill of Word.
