I recently bought Imate-Jamin mobile phone from Dubai . I tried to use fax service provided by my GSM provider on this phone ( please note that I have been using this service on my earlier phones Nokia 9210 and Nokia 9500 ). But was not able to do so.
On contacting Imate Support, I was informed that Imate does not have any solution for me, and I should look for some 3rd party software. In this respect I was informed the following by a 3rd party fax software developer; KSE Software:
QUOTE
The problem is that the modem i.e. network manufacturer (Qualcomm with their CDMA network) is not supporting fax class 1 or 2 in their system. Therefore we are not able to support the WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones (or the CDMA based WM
2003 Pocket PC Phones). Furthermore HTC is - due to the lack of support from Qualcomm - not able to support us either.
So we are stuck in the middle. As long as Qualcomm doesn't set a higher priority to the fax class support within their network (modem) we can do nothing about this issue.
As soon as they would change this issue we would immediately be able to support WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones as well as CDMA phones using their network.
Frankly, I do not think that this issue will be solved soon. Faxing is still seen as not important by the big companies (which I certainly do not agree, but we do not have a lobby or a direct contact person at Qualcomm, who has the power to change this).

I wish to ask that are the comments stated above by KSE Software correct ? And if they are then I feel that I have been let down by Imate company, as after paying such a high price for this phone, I am being provided a low quality modem.
Please advise that is the above correct ?
Regards.
