audio recording on ipaq

i have an ipaq 1940 which has a one button touch and hold record feature. i want to use it for some long recordings (not memos) and wonder
1. are there any good apps for making tiny (small as possible) audio files which use less disk space than generic setup/format
2. are there any add ons/tools so that the one button touch causes a continued recording (so you don't have to hold the button) until interrupted by another button or screen click
