Wondering which I would like better,
or are these just too different to really compare?

I have used both.

I started out using a Palm Pilot, (forgot which one), worked my up to a III-C, then finally to the Tungston (forgot which one exactly). Enjoyed them very much, but, found them lacking.

The one thing I found them lacking in, was memory.

That was the major reason why I switched over to the HP's. The company I work for used the Dell Axim X50's, X30's without any problems.

Well, there was ONE big problem, the crews kept dropping them and breaking the screens, which caused us to spend between $100-$150 to get them fixed.

Other then that, I liked the x50's.

I personally use an Hx 4700 and I LOVE it!!!

I had installed WM5 on it (twice), the last time using the hacks which I found on this website, but eventually went back to WM 2003 SE because of different problems.

It all boils down to what you want your PDA to do FOR you.

For me, I had reached the end of the road with my Palm, and needed something more.

A complicated decision, given that the T|X has a much better screen than the (non-VGA) x50's, while the Windows Mobile software available is much better than that of Palm.

My advise is not going for either of them; get a decent VGA Pocket PC at a somewhat higher price point.
